A teenaged male was arrested and a loaded handgun was seized Tuesday after Ottawa police interrupted an apparent abduction and attempted robbery.
The incident began at about 3 p.m. when police were alerted by 911 that two young men were in a vehicle with an armed man who was demanding money.
A number of police units responded to the call and the vehicle was quickly located on Bank Street near Findley Creek in the south end.
As officers advanced on the vehicle, the suspect climbed out and attempted to flee.
He was quickly arrested by police.
A loaded 9mm FEG silver handgun was seized by police.
The two robbery victims remained inside the car and were not injured.
The 17-year-old young offender faces charges including robbery with a weapon, kidnapping and pointing a firearm.
