Rasa had been living with Aki, but he had kicked her out a week before he was slain, according to news station KITV. Rasa confessed her involvement in the slaying after DNA evidenceimplicated her, according to police documents. The police affidavit quoted Aki’s daughter as saying that Rasa was using “her dad for money,a place to live, his car and drugs.” KITV reported that Branco-Taguchi, Rasa’s current boyfriend, shot Aki with a gunsupplied by Rodrigues — his cousin. All four suspects took part in burning Aki’s car, according to the deputy prosecutor. A judge set bail for Rasa, Branco-Taguchi, and Rodrigues at $1 million each.
